Bar soap is a hard brick that digs into your hand, slips away, cracks as it dries, and turns to paste in a wet dish. Add grit and it gets worse. All the pressure lands on a few high points, like your shins, ankles, and knuckles, which is exactly where you don’t want it. And because the soap wears away faster than the grit does, a couple of weeks in you’re basically scrubbing with sandpaper.
We spent two and a half years building a bar that bends instead. Our early testers loved it, then asked for a version with a scrub, for post-workout grime, rough heels, and calluses. So we made one.

The Contour Bar With Grit bends in your hand, curves around your body, and springs back to shape when you let go. It does that in a hot shower and at a cold sink, so there’s no warming it up first.
Because it wraps instead of poking, the scrub spreads across your skin instead of digging in at one point. The grit is finely milled volcanic pumice, not plastic microbeads, and it stays evenly mixed through the bar as it wears down.
It comes in one Original Scent, and it’s made for below the neck, hands, and feet. It’s not for your face.

With Grit ·
We rate how bendy things are on our F-scale, which runs from a pourable liquid (F0) to a rigid bar (F10). The Contour Bar With Grit is an , right in the middle.
In most scrub bars, the soap disappears and the grit gets rougher. Here, the bar and the scrub wear down together.

From wash 1 to wash 30+, the bar and the scrub wear down together. It gets smaller, but the scrub feels the same as day one.
Most people get 30+ washes from one bar, and letting it dry between uses gets you even more. Results vary with water temperature, water pressure, how long you wash, and how the bar is stored. Standing water shortens a bar’s life more than washing does.
Same scrub, different bars.
| The Contour Bar With Grit | Traditional scrub bars | Liquid body scrubs | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wraps your curves | Yes, an even scrub | No, rigid | Slips off and rinses away |
| Grit stays mixed in | Yes, to the end | Soap wears away first and leaves the grit behind | Settles at the bottom of the bottle |
| Rinses clean | Yes, no scum in our testing | Can leave gritty sludge | Can leave sand in the tub |
| Falls apart | Bends, doesn’t crumble | Brittle, can crack and flake | Doesn’t apply |
| Packaging | Plastic-free | Varies | Usually a plastic bottle |

Because the bar flexes, the pressure spreads across your skin. Still, go gently over bony spots, and skip any skin that’s broken or irritated.

The pumice stays in the bar and not on your towel, so patting it dry leaves no residue.

It isn’t traditional soap, so there’s nothing in it to bind with the minerals in hard water and leave a crust. When we tested it, it left no scum behind.

A rigid bar chips when you drop it, and it hurts when it lands on your foot. This one gives. It won’t chip, dent, or shatter, and your toes will be fine.
Small details add up: a cleaner shower, a bar that doesn’t chip when it drops, no drying rack, and a wash that doesn’t leave your skin feeling tight.
The bar is built on glycerin, corn starch, potato starch, and carrageenan, a gel made from seaweed. The scrub comes from natural volcanic pumice, so there are no plastic microbeads and no walnut shells. It’s designed and made in the US, ingredients and packaging included, and the packaging is plastic-free.
