The Contour BarTM is engineered to remove friction from your daily routine. Most of the care involved in using our solid cleansers is actually defined by what you get to skip entirely. There is no heavy plastic bottle to recycle, no clogged pump mechanism to fight, and no specialized draining tray required so long as the bar stays relatively dry between uses.
The habits outlined below are simple, but they are designed to protect the F5 flex and maximize the wash count of your bar. For a deeper look at the engineering behind these routines, you can always read our broader technical notes on Pat-Dry Travel, How We Measure Flex, and Why We Stopped at Original Scent.
The Basics
Traditional soap demands constant maintenance. If you leave a standard milled block in a wet dish, it absorbs standing water and swells into a gelatinous mess. While the hydro-stable matrix inside The Contour BarTM is highly resistant to moisture, standing water remains the fastest way to shorten the lifespan of any cleanser. A wet dish will wear down the surface faster than an actual shower will. To get the most out of Smooth or With Grit, simply set the bar on a dry shower ledge, a wire rack, or any flat surface where it can air dry between uses.
Temperature requires absolutely no babysitting. The flexible matrix is thermally locked up to 170°F and maintains its precise elasticity even in freezing water. You do not need to warm the bar up in your hands before using it, and a hot delivery truck sitting in the summer sun will never melt or alter the F5 calibration.
As a reminder for your daily routine, our usage rules remain strict. The Contour BarTM (Smooth) is formulated as a daily body bar, and is not for the face. The Contour BarTM With Grit is engineered for below the neck, the hands, and the feet, and is strictly not for the face. Both functional finishes use our clean, neutral Original Scent. You only need to choose your bar based on the physical texture you need for the day, without worrying about conflicting fragrances.

Pat-Dry Travel
Because our internal matrix is hydro-stable, water activates the surfactant lather right at the surface boundary without ever soaking into the core of the bar. That structural lock completely eliminates the need for breathable pouches or slotted travel cases when you are on the move. You can transition from a hotel shower to a packed gym bag in seconds.
- Rinse the bar clean. Give the surface a quick pass under the water stream to clear away any remaining suds.
- Pat it dry with your towel. Because the outer layer has not softened into mush, it will not smear or leave a soapy residue across your cotton towel.
- Drop it straight into your bag. The bar is instantly dry to the touch, meaning you skip the multi-hour wait on a hotel sink and avoid opening a slime-filled plastic clamshell later that night.
With Grit
With Grit features the exact same F5 flexible core as our Smooth bar, compounded with fine volcanic pumice. Because the pumice is evenly suspended throughout the elastic matrix, the exfoliation remains consistent from the first wash to the last. The grit will not clump, and it does not require a special storage dish to prevent it from settling.
You wash and rinse With Grit exactly as you would our standard bar. While the natural pumice is incredibly fine and washes away cleanly under a normal water stream, we do not make absolute claims that it can never accumulate in a slow or partially blocked drain over years of use. Simply store it dry and out of standing water just like Smooth, and the bar will maintain its cushioned, even-pressure scrubbing action.
Washes and Wear
Most people get over thirty full-body washes from a single bar, which translates to roughly a month of daily showers. Naturally, this lifespan will vary depending on your personal routine. High water pressure, extreme water temperatures, exceptionally long showers, and leaving the bar in a direct stream of water will all accelerate wear.
The most notable difference in caring for The Contour BarTM happens at the very end of its life. Traditional soap gets brittle, cracks down the middle, and loses all leverage when it gets thin. Geometry-independent flex was a mandatory part of our zero-downsides engineering brief. As your bar wears down and gets smaller, it retains its F5 flexibility and tension. Week four will feel remarkably similar to week one in the hand. You simply stop using it when the physical footprint becomes too small for your fingers to comfortably hold.
