We love the idea of bar soap. Using it is another story. It’s a hard brick that digs into your hand, slips away from you, cracks as it dries, and turns to paste in a wet dish. Most people give up and switch to body wash, which means another plastic bottle. Shower jellies are softer, but they melt before the week is out.
We wanted a bar with no catch, so we set out to build one. The first version worked after a few months, but it melted quickly, barely lathered, and was hard to make. So we kept going. It took two and a half years to get it right.
The Contour Bar is made to bend. It flexes in your hand, curves around your shoulders and knees, and springs back to shape when you let go. It does that in a hot shower and at a cold sink, so there’s no warming it up first.
It has a smooth, easy glide and one Original Scent. We didn’t chase scents or colors. We chased how it feels.

We rate how bendy things are on our F-scale, which runs from a pourable liquid (F0) to a rigid bar (F10). The Contour Bar is an , right in the middle.
Most bars crack, crumble, or go mushy long before you’re done with them. This one just gets smaller.
From the first wash to wash 30+, it keeps the same shape and the same give — it just gets smaller. You stop when it’s too small to hold.
Most people get 30+ washes from one bar, and letting it dry between uses gets you even more. Results vary with water temperature, water pressure, how long you wash, and how the bar is stored. Standing water shortens a bar’s life more than washing does.

It isn’t traditional soap, so there’s nothing in it to bind with the minerals in hard water and leave a crust. When we tested it next to other bars, ours left no stain, paste, or scum.
A rigid bar chips when you drop it, and it hurts when it lands on your foot. This one gives. It won’t chip, dent, or shatter, and your toes will be fine.
Pat it dry and set it on any dry surface, or toss it in your gym bag. There’s no mush to wait out and nothing left on your towel.
Traditional soap is very alkaline, which can leave your skin feeling tight. The Contour Bar is formulated at a neutral pH.
Small details add up: a cleaner shower, a bar that doesn’t chip when it drops, no drying rack, and a wash that doesn’t leave your skin feeling tight.
The Contour Bar is built on glycerin, corn starch, potato starch, and carrageenan, a gel made from seaweed. It’s designed and made in the US, ingredients and packaging included. We did that on purpose. The packaging is plastic-free, too.
